Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was the first company in the United States to be certified under the Tour Operators Program of Safety (TOPS). The company conducts more hours of flying than any other air tour company and has implemented a Safety Systems Management Program in cooperation with the FAA. This safety system goes beyond the requirements of TOPS by incorporating safety assurance feedback loops, much like the quality control systems of ISO 9000. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was also the first helicopter tour company to be certified by the HAI Platinum Program of Safety. As part of Air Methods Corporation, the global leader in air medical transportation, we share their commitment to safety.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and Hawaii Helicopters in cooperation with the FAA has established an Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) for Pilots and a Maintenance Safety Action Program (MSAP) for mechanics and technicians.
The ASAP/MSAP is a voluntary, self-reporting program designed to identify and reduce safety issues and hazards. ASAP/MSAP uses employee inputs to identify safety concerns, operational deficiencies, non-compliance of regulation, deviations from company policy, and unusual events. The program is not a replacement for management and is mostly interested in safety issues which have gone unresolved. In partnership with all relevant departments and the FAA, each report is investigated and corrective actions determined, based on a non-disciplinary approach to flight safety.Pilots: Choose ASAP to report company policy or FAR violations, choose General Safety to report any safety hazard, incident and suggestions to reduce risk.
Mechanics: Choose MSAP to report company policy or FAR violations, choose General Safety to report any safety hazard, incident and suggestions to reduce risk. All Other Employees: Choose General Safety to report any safety hazard, incident, company policy or FAR violations, and suggestions to reduce risk.
